Got the following suggestion about a live draft from Chris (Colonels):
"I just finished drafting in my Yahoo NBA league I'm the commish in. I've had the league going for 3-4 years now and have always drafted slow on the message board like we do for this league. However, this year I set up the Keepers in Yahoo and used the Live Draft and it worked like a charm. I assigned all of the Keepers to each team before the draft and tweaked the draft order for each round and we were off to the races."
Thoughts?

The biggest (and most obvious) problem with a Live draft is having an agreed upon date and time. The biggest advantage IMO is being able to draft closer to the start of the season. I'm not big fan of picking my top players 2-3 months ahead of time only to see them get hurt in spring training.
With my NBA league we drafted the Sunday evening before the games started and it was really nice knowing who would start, who was injured, etc. just before the first games started.
Obviously we would have to draft our MiLB rosters on here on the message board.
What do you guys think?

Does the yahoo system have a way accommodate our supplemental draft? Or will we have to do the supplemental draft on the boards?
I am all for a live draft if the system can be set up properly and we can come up with a draft date that everyone can attend.

I can go either way. I like the live draft to be able to hold it a little sooner to the beggining of the season, but I like the slow draft as a way to "get into" the season a little earlier.
If we go live draft, will the keeper date be prolonged to allow for more trading time?

^That's another good point with the Keeper timetable.
I'm not sure about how the supplemental would work (we kept 6 in my NBA league without a supplemental). I guess we would need to see how many people are going to be drafting in the supplemental and then hold it a few weeks prior to the online draft.

I'd rather do the slow draft, but as the new guy in town, whatever the decision, I'm cool with it

I got to thinking. If we get to trading MLB picks, I don't see how we could do a live draft. I don't think the Yahoo system allows tweaks to the draft process. I maybe wrong however. It maybe something to think about.

^You can change the entire draft order for each round in Yahoo as long as everyone makes the same number of picks for the overall draft (if that makes sense).
