We voted on this last season... 123innings.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=2009rules&action=display&thread=221...but it's been brought up again, and I think it's worth discussing for next season. After some discussion I'll post a poll. It was brought up last season by Paws (not current owner paw) who finished last in the regular season standings, the main concern being why does the first place team get the first pick in the regular draft (*after* the supplemental draft)? When I came into the league, after the first season, that's the way it was done. I could really go either way, but I favor the current method slightly because... 1) Weaker teams will typically have fewer keeper players, not always, but generally that's true. If you finish last, then you need to really examine closely your keepers' value vs potential free agents you're giving up in the supplemental draft. 2) Weaker teams need something to play for when they are knocked out of the playoffs. Let's say you realize that you're not going to make the playoffs, and you've assembled a solid set of keepers. If you get the first round pick after the supplemental draft by finishing last, there's a dilemma -- keep playing each week to win, or just ignore your lineups in order to slip to the bottom. I'd rather everyone keep playing to win each week. (btw, check 'bookmark this thread' to get notified via email of replies to a thread.)

Thinking it through, it is tough, you wouldn't want to disrupt the snake of the draft i don't think. Thus the only thing i can think of is to cut keepers to 6 next offseason. Not sure if that is too drastic of a change to solve this problem though.
I was wondering about this b/c i remembered the discussion but didn't remember the outcome. What does everyone else think?

What about keeping the keepers at a minimum? Say, everyone has to keep four. This way, everyone has the same number of keepers and the worst team starts of the draft with the first pick.

That is one other idea i hadn't thought of....i kind of like the choice though...only because it allows teams with lesser players to not keep them and get several picks before the strong teams with more players.

Yeah I do like the current keep 4 to 7 players setup. Makes it fun in the supplemental rounds.

One thing that bugs me about changing the number of keepers is that some teams have worked to to build up 7 solid keepers. And, some haven't so dropping to a set 4 gives them an advantage... kinda lessens the keeper aspect of the league.

Yeah, what would the pro and cons of restarting the 1st regular draft round at the last place team be?

Yeah, what would the pro and cons of restarting the 1st regular draft round at the last place team be? You mean keeping the current 3 supplemental rounds, then instead of snaking, go back to the worst team? Well, here my reasons for not doing that... 1) Weaker teams will typically have fewer keeper players, not always, which would give you more supplemental draft rounds to pick.

That's true...i knew there would be something about that too...ah well...keeping as is is ok with me...it's a good discussion to have anyhow, as some of the new players might have insight from other leagues, etc. When i originally set the rules, i was kind of putting it together as i went.

Guys you have to give me a couple days to get caught up on things. I was in a bad car wreck this morning. I am ok as ok can be, but I've lost my glasses and without them I am blind. I will do my best to stay abreast of the discussion, but I am at a lose without my glasses. If you would like to see what I got out of here is a link to so picks.http://www.facebook.com/#/album.php?aid=140371&id=1381175884&ref=mf

What the hell man that was a crazy wreck...glad you're okay! What happened? Don't worry about the discussion, it isn't for this year anyhow. Did you have any injuries at all? I'd say you're really lucky man !

Dude that is bad. We'll give you some extra time for your picks if you need it... we've got plenty of time to finish this draft.

I was going to work Wednesday morning up US-27 which is the main road between my hometown of LaFayette to Chattanooga. It is actually the bypass round the Chickamuga Battlefield. It's a trip i do everyday. I had my cruise set on 60mph, because in my younger years I had a lead foot so the cruise control is the best thing. There are several road that come to the divided highway. I did not see the truck until I hit the truck. It was a late 70's or early to mid 80's Chevy Silverado. After the airbag lost the air and went down, all I could see were flames. I did not panic. I unbuckled and got out. Once I got out I remember I had some important paper work in there that I had been working very hard on. Mainly student files. So, I decided I need to get them. So, I open the door and got the files and cell phone. The one thing I didn't get just because I had so much adrenaline pumping through me was my glass. By the time I realized that I didn't have my glasses on, I could not get back in the car because...you seen the pic and you know why. So I am without glass until next Wednesday.
The guy that pulled out in front of me did not have driver's license or insurance. He wasn't even driving his car. He was driving his wife truck which did not have insurance, so I'm pretty much SOL. To top it all off, the man has been arrested 4 times by the Georgia State Patrol since June. My insurance will cover up to a point but it probably won't provide me with a car to get back and forth to work, but I shouold be able to get back and forth.
I appreciate the extra time if I need it. I don't think I will but if I do, I will let everyone know. I have a doctor's appointment today at 4:30pm EST. I be at home after that so maybe I won't need extra time. I just wish you goon would stop taking the players I have in my que. I kid, I kid. Good draft so far.
I'll be around

Glad you're okay...and yeah, take your time. Feel free to email me your picks as i'm usually around, but also right next to you in the draft So maybe someone towards the other side is better. That stinks about their insurance, etc...he sounds like a real winner! Good luck finding a new ride...
